“A cleaner air vehicle is what I’ve had on my mind for a while,” Sarah says. “I researched, mentally prepared, and budgeted to own one.” This year, that goal became a reality when she purchased a 2023 Chevrolet Bolt through the Driving Clean Assistance Program (DCAP).
Since making the switch, Sarah has been pleasantly surprised by how much she enjoys driving electric.
“I love how nimble the car is. It actually drives better than my SUV, and I don’t have to go to a gas station and pay the high price of gas anymore. ”The Bolt’s technology has also impressed her. “An EV is really a computer on wheels,” Sarah says. “My Bolt is very intuitive. Every beep means something, whether I’m changing lanes or backing out of a parking space. Even the basic model has features that are usually reserved for higher-priced gas vehicles.”
While the convenience and technology are great benefits, the environmental impact was one of the biggest reasons Sarah wanted to make the transition. “I have better peace of mind realizing my vehicle’s lack of tailpipe emissions doesn’t harm the environment,” she says. “I’m actually the first EV owner on my street, and my friends and neighbors are excited for me.”
When the time came to purchase a vehicle, DCAP offered the support she needed to make the switch.“I looked into DCAP because of the financial assistance and because I qualified,” Sarah says. “Gas prices were high, and there were a lot of used EVs available at attractive price points.”
