Network Eligibility

  • Franchise dealer.
  • Credit Union Direct Lending member.
  • Other dealers are subject to program discretion.

Benefits

  • DCAP provides fast turnaround times for document review and grant payment to dealerships.
  • DCAP offers an array of services to support informed buyers in selecting a qualifying vehicle within their budget.
    • Individualized financial counseling.
    • Access to loan interest financing.
    • Down payment assistance up to $12,000.
    • Charging assistance up to $2,000.

Vehicle Eligibility

  • Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, battery electric vehicle, or a fuel cell electric vehicle only.
  • $45,000 or less vehicle cost (does not include taxes and fees).
  • $45,000 or less amount financed.
  • 8* model years or newer.  *The model year of an 8-year vehicle is calculated by subtracting 7 from the current calendar year of the transaction (e.g., eligible replacement vehicles in calendar 2024 include model years 2017 and newer).
  • 75,000 or less original miles.
  • New vehicles must be on the California Air Resource Board list of eligible vehicles.

Grant Redemption

  • Ensure your vehicle meets the requirements (complete checklist available in the Resources tab).
  • Apply the appropriate grant as a down payment on a lease or purchase agreement.
  • Submit purchase or lease information using the “Redeem Grant” button at the top of the page.
  • DCAP staff members will review the payment request for completeness.
  • Approved requests will be paid directly to the dealership via ACH.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, the dealership may hold the vehicle until payment is received. All grant approvals have guaranteed funds and will be paid once all requirements are met.
No, dealerships must not accept any form of collateral in place of the grant. This includes checks for the grant amount, and credit card holds.
The DCAP Team will notify the dealer via email about the approval, payment, or any missing information after reviewing the request.

The grant must be added separately from all other down payments. Please add CHDC or DCAP as the payment name.
